Modernisation made easy by Zumtobel Group Services

Furniture giant XXXLutz relies on a full-service package from ZGS.

How to effectively and efficiently renew the lighting in 70 stores and warehouses all over Austria? That¬īs quite a question ‚Äď and quite a challenge ‚Äď but one that furniture chain XXXLUTZ has opted to overcome with a COMPLETE offer from Zumtobel Group Services (ZGS). The result: Quick and simple implementation, without affecting the daily business. Plus a huge weight off the mind of the client, who only had to speak to one contact for the whole project.

With 46 stores and 55 warehouses in Austria alone, renewing XXXLutz‚Äôs lighting infrastructure was certainly no small task. The aim was to unlock the real benefits of LEDs in terms of lighting quality and economics, using their immense energy-saving potential to achieve a quick return on investment when compared to old conventional lighting technology. However, while the end result was obviously crucial, the modernisation also had to be carefully planned with professional project management to make sure that any impact on the day-to-day running of the company was kept to an absolute minimum. XXXLutz found exactly the right partner in ZGS and exactly the right solution with the COMPLETE turnkey package. Over the past two years, Zumtobel Group Services has replaced lighting in almost 70 stores and warehouses across Austria ‚Äď and XXXLutz is so satisfied with the results that the concept is also now being rolled out across their German network.

The advantages of the COMPLETE service offer for such a major project were clear from the start. Zumtobel Group Services acted as a general contractor for XXXLutz, giving the furniture chain one contact person for all lighting matters. Zumtobel Group Services provided comprehensive project management, looking after everything from the initial inventory through to the planning and coordination of the whole workflow, including installation and commissioning work. This was a huge relief for XXXLutz, saving time and cutting energy costs, as well as delivering efficiency and effectiveness at every stage. The experienced team of ZGS project managers and highly trained electricians from the dedicated partner network also helped make sure that the replacement of the luminaires took place without any impact on the daily business.

Georg Wei√ükirchner, Facility Manager at XXXLutz, confirmed: ‚ÄúWe were really impressed by the COMPLETE service package. ZGS managed the entire modernisation, so we didn‚Äôt have to worry about a thing. The excellent project management meant that we could save time and money ‚Äď and we barely noticed any effect on the flow of goods or the performance of the individual stores.‚ÄĚ

The choice of lighting solutions was obviously a key factor in achieving quick and straight-forward installation. Some of the sites were already equipped with older luminaires from the TECTON range ‚Äď a continuous-row system famed for its speedy mounting. This meant that the conventional battens could simply be replaced by their LED successors. Alongside TECTON, the AquaForce II moisture-resistant LED luminaire from Thorn has been used for the delivery area and collection points. The characteristic atriums of the stores are now showcased by two LED luminaires: CRAFT from Zumtobel and HiPak from Thorn. Narrow-beam versions of CRAFT highlight the steel structure under the glass roof of the atrium, while HiPak pendant luminaires are fitted with a reflector that gives the space an added depth effect. CRAFT luminaires can also be found in the departments offering home accessories and household items, where the wide beam of the CRAFT high-bay generously illuminates the busy sales areas. In locations like the Austrian flagship store in Brunn am Gebirge, the all-round lighting solution is rounded off by a series of AquaForce II luminaires in the underground car parks.

‚ÄúWe are delighted that XXXLutz has selected us as the preferred partner for the modernisation work in Austria ‚Äď and that this cooperation will now be extended to cover Germany. This proves that our full-service approach has put us on the right track to meet all the lighting needs of our clients from one single source,‚ÄĚ concluded Dominik Seidl, Key Account Manager from the Zumtobel Group.
